Kettlebell Classes

Working out with a kettlebell can help you build strength, increase endurance, improve mobility and posture, and burn a lot of calories in a relatively short amount of time.

It’s an all-in-one multitasking iron ball of wonder. And did we mention that kettlebell training is fun too?

Classes are sorted by difficulty - we have options for all skill levels!

If you do not have much experience with kettlebells, we recommend beginning with our Kettlebell Foundations classes on Saturdays from 9-10am.

LEVEL 1

KETTLEBELL FOUNDATIONS

Our L1 kettlebell classes are beginner friendly and all about building skill and strength with the kettlebell, while providing an excellent workout. You do not need to have any previous kettlebell experience to take this class, but if you would like some additional instruction we recommend taking the “Intro to Kettlebells” workshop or signing up for a private lesson. All classes will also include mobility work to prevent injuries and keep your body moving freely.

There will be a focus on teaching the following kettlebell movements: deadlift, swing, lunge, goblet squat, clean, press, and rows.

LEVEL 2

Prerequisites: You do have to test out of L1 in order to sign up for L2 classes. You can do this either at the end of a L1 class, at a “Intro to Kettlebells” workshop, or during a private lesson. You will have to prove good form in the following kettlebell movements: deadlift, swing, lunge, goblet squat, clean, press, rows.

KETTLEBELL FITNESS

Strength, conditioning, calorie burning, and muscle building - this class covers it all in only 45 minutes!

The kettlebell is a powerful tool for improving your fitness and overall body composition. You will not only improve your core strength, your grip strength, and your cardiovascular fitness, but also increase your mobility and flexibility - teaching you to move with quality and within your full range of motion. With the proper technique and guidance, we promise you'll learn for yourself why kettlebells are one of the most fun and effective fitness tools out there!

Level 2 classes will not be added to the schedule until March 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kettlebells are cast-iron weights shaped like a ball with a handle for gripping.

You hold the kettlebell in one or both hands and go through a series of exercises. Because of its shape, it is a versatile piece of equipment - which means you can perform a range of exercises which target single or multiple groups at the same time. The movements often involve the entire body and work on areas such as balance, coordination, and power development in ways you won’t get with dumbbells or a barbell.

  • As with all forms of physical fitness, good form is important in order to avoid injuries. This is why we recommend that everyone starts out by taking our intro workshop or our Level 1 classes, where we place a great emphasis on learning and moving with good form. You do have to pass a movement test before moving on to our Level 2 class.

Always ask a medical professional for advice if you have any back pain or injuries and want to use kettlebells.

  • Kettlebell training includes dynamic moves that target endurance, strength, balance and cardio endurance. Kettlebell workouts are popular because they're challenging, efficient, and you only need one piece of equipment. Full body movements require lots of energy, which burns more calories and can aid in weight loss.

In our Level 2 & Level 3 classes, we begin adding speed and complexity to the mix. This will amplify your results, boost your metabolism, aid in athleticism, and keep you focused and in the flow. Once you get the hang of the basic movements, a whole world of options opens up to keep things fun and interesting!

  • Come dressed in comfortable, breathable non-restrictive clothing – remember, our classes will get you moving! We recommend athletic shoes that are flat and firm - avoid bouncy running shoes with an elevated heel if possible.

We don’t recommend wearing rings, bracelets, or watches, as they will get in the way of using the kettlebell.

Don’t forget to bring a towel to freshen up and a water bottle to hydrate (we do have water jugs to refill reusable water bottles).
